VIDEO: Green's outside shooting paces Hens to win

Courtni Green hit a career-high 5 three-pointers as Delaware jumped out to an 18-point halftime lead and cruised to a 72-58 victory over Monmouth Tuesday night.

Delaware reversed a 15-14 Monmouth lead with a 15-3 run, and then scored the last nine points of the half to lead 41-23 at halftime. Delaware's bench outscored the Hawks 15-2 in the first half thanks to Joy Caracciolo's 7 points and Jade Clark chipping in 6.

Monmouth opened the second half on 14-2 spurt to cut the game to 43-37 following a layup by Shira Schecht, who had a game-high 20 points, but could get no closer.

Delaware again responded with a big run, getting the lead back out to 18 twice at 55-37 and 58-40, and then one final time at 72-52 before Monmouth scored the last 6 points to end the game.

Green hit 5-10 from behind the arc to lead Delaware with 15 points, while backcourt-mate Erika Brown connected on 4 trifectas on her way to 14.

Their outside shooting helped free up Delaware's forwards, as Kelsey Buchanan finished with 12 points and Shanice Johnson with 9, with both grabbing 8 rebounds. Delaware outrebounded the Hawks 46-39.

The Blue Hens embark on a 6-game, month-long road trip beginning Sunday afternoon at Rider. Delaware's next home game isn't until December 30th when they host St. John's in their final non-conference battle.

Before their next time on the Bob Carpenter Center floor, Delaware has a game with Ivy League power Princeton and tournaments at Central Florida and Lehigh.
