New neighborhood stabilization project targets Route 9 in New Castle
Select communities in the New Castle area will benefit from a new neighborhood stabilization project.
New Castle County has received a one-time grant of $500,000 from the federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh.
The county will use the money to rehab seven vacant and foreclosed homes along Route 9.
County Executive Tom Gordon calls the area "one of the most blighted in the county." He hopes the money will create affordable housing opportunities and increase home ownership.
