Fishing pier in OCMD damaged by winter storm
WBOC TV, Channel 16 in Salisbury is reporting today that the winter storm that passed through the region this week caused damage to the Ocean City Fishing Pier.
The Ocean City Coast Guard confirms that seven pylons were knocked away from under the pier by strong waves and winds; the Coast Guard says the pier is still standing, but there is damage to the pylons at the end of the fishing pier.
In 2012, Hurricane Sandy severely damaged the fishing pier. The pier was then reconstructed and re-opened in May 2013.
Crews are expected to assess the damage to the pier Friday.
