Cell tower near Bethany Beach approved
By Associated Press

Sussex County's board of adjustment has approved an At&T proposal to build a 100-foot tall cell phone tower near Bethany Beach.

The group voted 3-2 Monday night to build the tower on Del. 1 to improve cell phone service near the Sea Pine Village community.

Sea Pine Village Homeowners Association President Gary Bogossian says the tower will damage the views of people sitting in their backyards and porches. He says people will choose to rent homes elsewhere and the group may file a legal challenge to the board's decision.

Board member John Mills disagreed, saying the tower wouldn't have a negative effect on nearby properties. He also says AT&T indicated there were no alternatives available.
