DE teachers win Presidential award
By Frank Gerace

A pair of Delaware high school teachers have added a national honor to their list of achievements.

Mary Pinkston, a math teacher at Brandywine High School, and Concord High School science teacher Michael Kaufmann are among this year's winners of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, the highest national honor for math and science teachers in grades K through 12.

Cedar Lane Elementary School's Linda Bledsoe won the award last year, and 5 other Delaware teachers were finalists in 2011.

Kaufmann and Pinkston, who was Delaware's Teacher of the Year in 2010, each get 10 thousand dollars from the National Science Foundation and will be honored along with the other winners from across the US later this year in DC.
