World Blood Donor Day
If you're a blood donor in the state of Delaware, the Blood Bank of Delmarva is showing their appreciation as part of World Blood Donor Day.
The worldwide celebration is meant to express gratitude to those who donate their blood and encourage others to do so.
Nexcare, the medical care company, has partnered with blood banks across the country to give every person who donates blood this week a limited edition "give" bandage.
The goal of the bandages is to inspire more people to get involved.
90 million units of blood are donated each year worldwide, according to the Blood Bank.
Delmarva requires more than 350 donors each day to support the blood supply of local hospitals.
The Blood Bank encourages everyone to observe World Blood Donor day by making an appointment to give blood.
