VIDEO: New Del. Sports Commission launched

Delaware is hoping to draw more big-time sporting events by creating the Delaware Sports Commission.

Governor Markell threw out a ceremonial first pitch to the new Delaware Sports Commission at Frawley Stadium. Commission board chairman Linda Parkowski says Delaware is attractive because of its location.

Officials say the economic benefits of attracting professional, amateur and youth sporting events are immense.

The sports commission has already worked on bringing the U.S. Figure Skating Championships to the state this month.
