Westside Health to expand in Middletown with federal grant

Westside Family Healthcare gets a big chunk of a national grant to open a health center in Middletown.
"Add new sites, create jobs by hiring more employees, and serve more patients in need of important healthcare services, " said Mayra Alvarez of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Westside is getting a piece of $130 million from the Affordable Care Act going to centers across the country.
"Of the population we intend to serve, which is around 10,000 people, 23 percent are uninsured, and there's quite a large number of people under 200 percent of poverty," said Westside President Lolita Lopez.

Lopez expects the center to be operational in about four months.
