Delmarva Power has energy-saving tips for hot days

The hot weather we've been having means extra demand for electricity to run air conditioners and fans, so Delmarva Power's asking you to do what you can to conserve energy and avoid outages.

The utility says you should set your AC thermostat no higher than 78 degrees, and when possible, use an electric fan, which uses less energy.

Other tips include keeping window shades, blinds and drapes closed, turning off non-essential appliances and using washers, dryers and such in the evening, when it's cooler.
