City seeks SAFER grant
By Frank Gerace

Wilmington's Fire Department is seeking a federal SAFER grant to pay the salaries of 13 of its members.

A grant awarded last year allowed the city to re-hire 8 firefighters laid off due to budget cuts, and hire 5 for positions left open through attrition.

City Council is scheduled to vote on the grant resolution at its August 23rd meeting.
