Undefeated Salesianum football squad adds another win to their season, dominating Pennsylvania's Avon Grove Friday night 42-0 at Baynard Stadium.
WDEL's male Athlete of the Week, Troy Reeder, gave the Sals the early 7-0 advantage with a rushing touchdown in the first quarter.
Before the half, Sallies took control of two back-to-back miscues by Red Devils. Andrew McClelland and fullback Patrick Keough provided two rushing touchdowns to extend the lead to 35-0.
In the third quarter, Avon Grove's quarterback, Tanner Peck, gave his team a little boost of hope when he connected with senior Tripp Moran for a 10-yard gain.
It wouldn't last long when on the following play, Sal's running back, Evander Blue leaped in the air to grab an interception. The Sals never looked back.
Next week, the Sals head to Middletown, when they will face the Cavaliers, who is also undefeated for the showdown of the season.
Reeder told WDEL after the game, "We're looking for more competition and we want to be tested," said Reeder of next week's match up against Middletown. "The only way to get better is to play great competition."
