State GOP files suit to get Pettyjohn on the ballot
By Amy Cherry

Delaware's Republican Party files suit in Chancery Court to have GOP candidate Brian Pettyjohn appear on the ballot.

Pettyjohn is the nominated candidate for the 19th Senate district in Georgetown, after Eric Bodenweiser suspended his campaign and was eventually indicted on child sex abuse charges.

The party says if Pettyjohn's name isn't added to the ballot, voters in Sussex County will be deprived of a meaningful choice. The party claims it will also hurt their chances if competing head-to-head against Democrat Jane Hovington.

In their suit, the party claims Commissioner Manlove's interpretation of law is narrow, when she decided Pettyjohn would still be the write-in candidate.
