VIDEO: 2nd Half Highlights of Sals vs. Charter

The nationally ranked Salesianum soccer team could not deliver the knockout goal, but still hung on for a 1-0 victory over Wilmington Charter Thursday afternoon in Hockessin.

Salesianum, who entered the contest allowing just one goal to in-state competition, scored their goal in the 30th minute on a scramble in the box which was kicked home by junior Remington Christman off an assist by Joseph Cain.

The 18th-ranked Sals (11-1) would control most of the pace of play beyond that, and into the second half, but a stern Force defensive performance including several headers on jump balls by Makinde Ogunnaike kept the deficit at one.

Late in the second half Charter (10-1-1) picked up a couple of opportunities, including one on a free-kick just outside the right side of the box with about five minutes remaining, but the shot went wide, dooming the Force to their first loss of the season.

Jake Perrone made 8 saves for Wilmington Charter, while Nick Galentine recorded 3 stops for the Sals.
