Although there's a driving ban in effect as of 5 AM Monday morning, State Police have some tips if there's an emergency situation or you're headed to a shelter and you have to drive.

Police say if you do have to drive in heavy rain or on rain-soaked roads, slow down to avoid hydroplaning and give yourself more time to stop, if necessary.

Be careful if you're driving in high winds, and if you come to an intersection where traffic lights are out, treat it as a four-way stop sign, if there's no police officer directing traffic.
