City reiterates evacuation borders after mix-up
By Associated Press

Wilmington Mayor James Baker says some residents may be confused about who must evacuate because of a mix-up at the city's emergency communications center.

The area covered under the evacuation ordered Saturday hasn't changed. It covers the southeast portion of the city bounded by Vandever Avenue, Northeast Boulevard, Church Street, Front Street and South Market Street. On the south, the boundary is the city line just past the South Market Street bridge, and on the east, it's the Delaware River.

However, some residents outside that zone received calls between noon and 1:30 p.m. Sunday, instructing them to evacuate. They're being called back and told that's not necessary.

Meanwhile, the city is calling the 3,000 people covered by the order again to emphasize they need to leave by 6 p.m. Sunday.
