Del National Guard in place for storm
About 300 members of Delaware's National Guard are in place and ready to respond as needed.
Military vehicles are in place at the Guard's thee Readiness Centers and Wilmington headquarters, at the state's four Emergency Operations Centers, at each State Police Troop and at selected fire houses. Each can transport a dozen passengers and can navigate through several feet of water.
Medical technicians, nurses and physicians are also staffing the shelters at Cape Henlopen and William Penn high schools.
Other guard members are standing by to assist with evacuations and access control, as well as setting up satellite communications, providing drinking water, and removing stranded vehicles.
The Guard's fleet of Black Hawk Helicopters and C-130 aircraft were evacuated to a base in Michigan but will fly home as soon as the storm has passed.
