Storm knocks Salem 1 nuclear plant offline
Officials have shut down the Salem 1 nuclear power plant in southern New Jersey because of troubles associated with Sandy.
PSEG Nuclear says four of the station's six circulating water pumps that use Delaware Bay and River water to condense steam were no long available early Tuesday.
PSEG Nuclear says the plant is stable.
The neighboring Hope Creek nuclear plant is at full power. The Salem 2 unit has been offline for scheduled refueling since Oct. 14.
