Wesley football earns Regional Ranking; 2 net ECAC honors
Wesley's Sean Hopkins and Jared Morris each earned ECAC player of the week honors, while their team was declared the second best team in the South Region.

Hopkins was named the region's top special teams player following a performance where he returned 4 punts for 120 yards, including a 49-yard touchdown and a 41-yard return which put Wesley in the red zone on their opening possession. The Sussex Central alum leads all of Division III with a 21.5 yard average.
Morris, who is also a former wide receiver who transitioned to defense this season, put together an 8 tackle performance including his 6th interception of the year. 2 of his stops were for loss. Morris and Hopkins were both part of a defense which held Huntingdon to 24 points, almost 20 below their season average.
Meanwhile, Wesley was placed 2nd in the opening rankings of the NCAA Tournament's South Region committee. The regional rankings usually are a good indication of a potential seeding in the tournament's field of 32.
Topping the South Region is Mary Hardin-Baylor, who is 2nd in the D3football.com Top 25 national poll, and a 32-25 winner at Wesley back in September. Wesley has defeated three teams that appear in the various region rankings: South No. 5 Huntingdon, South No. 7 Louisiana College, and East No. 5 Salisbury. Wesley is the only team with three victories over regionally ranked opponents.
Wesley wraps up it's regular season with a game against 2-6 Apprentice School of Newport News Saturday at 1pm at Miller Stadium.
