New Castle crash closes parts of Route 9, embarrasses driver

State Police are investigating a crash involving a dump truck and a utility pole that closed parts of New Castle Avenue for several hours and knocked down power lines, and probably left the truck driver a bit embarrassed.
Police say the man was pulling out of a driveway around 6:30 Thursday night when he accidentally hit a lever raising the truck's cargo box, which hit a utility pole, breaking it in half and pulling wires off an adjacent pole.
Parts of New Castle Avenue were closed till about 3am Friday.
The driver wasn't charged.
