Public safety and criminal justice issues will take center stage at a hearing Tuesday night in New Castle.

Lieutenant Governor Matt Denn has chaired the Criminal Justice Council for the last two years.

"And my priority is to try to direct more resources into crime prevention and re-entry to try to make sure that individuals who are released from prison back into the community don't re-offend, but because money's been so tight that's been a difficult area to invest in," says Denn.

Denn also moved to hold the hearings directly in communities that are affected by crime rather than in state office buildings.

Tuesday's meeting will be held at the Canaan Baptist Church at 3011 New Castle Avenue in New Castle.

Future meetings will be held next month in Wilmington, in Kent County and in Sussex County.
