VIDEO: Highlights of Padua vs. Ursuline plus reaction from Padua players and coaches

Padua senior Jen Borio's 4th block of the match came on State Championship Point, giving the Pandas their first ever state volleyball crown with a 3 sets to 2 victory over Ursuline Monday night.

The Pandas trailed two sets to one against the team they beat twice during the regular season, but used a fierce hitting attack highlighted by Borio's 28 kills and 17 more from Allyson Jennings to turn the tide.

Padua was up 22-19 in the 4th set when Borio crushed a Sarah Cushing set off the outstretched arms of Ursuline's ace defender Taylor Hollingsworth. Back-to-back kills by Borio and Jennings salted the game at 25-21, setting up a race to 15 for the title.

Padua never trailed in the deciding set, although Ursuline did cut the deficit to 9-8. Padua then finished off the Raiders with a 6-0 championship-ending run, featuring 2 kills and 2 blocks by Borio, a junior.

Ursuline seemed to have control of the match early, after rallying from 12-7 down in the opening frame thanks to the defense of Hollingsworth, along with back-to-back late kills by Mary Abram to take the set 25-21.

Padua responded with a 25-18 victory in set 2 after Sarah Landry spiked home set point. A pair of Caroline Francois kills ended the third set 25-20 for the Raiders, setting up the late drama for Padua.

Borio complimented her 28 kills with 4 blocks, 3 digs, and 2 assists, while Jennings' 17 kills were mirrored by 17 digs. Summa added 58 digs for the new state championships.

Hollingsworth finished with 43 digs for Ursuline, who also picked up 24 digs and 12 kills from Abram, along with 24 assists, 14 digs, and 13 kills from Francois.
