Dover proposal to rename street after MLK revised
By Mark Fowser

A proposal to rename a street in Dover after Martin Luther King Junior may be in for a revision.

The original proposal was to rename a stretch of Division Street after the civil rights icon, but it met with resistance from local businesses and others who would be forced to change their addresses.

Now, the Delaware State News reports that Councilman Adam Perza plans to introduce a plan to rename portions of Court Street, Duke of York Street and William Penn Street after Dr. King.

People were sharply divided at a hearing last month on the original proposal.

Perza's plan comes before a city council legislative committee today at 5:30, at Dover City Council chambers.
