AAA:Thanksgiving travel up nationally, likely down in Mid Atlantic
Nationally, travel for the Thanksgiving holiday is expected to go up for a fourth straight year, but the after-effects of Hurricane Sandy are likely to bring the numbers down in the Mid Atlantic.
In total, 43.6 million Americans are expected to travel fifty miles or more.
The vast majority, 39.1 million, will take to the roadways.
Holiday air travel is expected to decline slightly. Also, median spending is dropping from $554 last year to just under $500 this year.
The last time Thanksgiving travel dropped from one year to the next was in 2008, in the early stages of the recession.
