Phils ink deal with IF Frandsen
By Sean Greene

The Phillies reached a 1-year, $850,000 agreement with Kevin Frandsen, avoiding salary arbitration with the utility infielder.

Frandsen played in 55 games, many at 3rd base spelling injured Placido Polanco, hitting .338 with 10 doubles and 14 RBI. The 30-year-old also hit .302 in 99 games with AAA Lehigh Valley.

Frandsen was aquired by the Phillies as a minor league free agent prior to 2011, and his hit .267 in 283 games between San Francisco, the Los Angeles Angels, and the Phillies.

With Frandsen in the fold, the Phillies still need to reach agreements with LHP Antonio Bastardo and OF Nate Schierholtz to avoid going to arbitration.
