Bodenweiser considering plea deal in child sex scandal
By Amy Cherry

Eric Bodenweiser
Eric Bodenweiser, the Georgetown state Senate candidate who withdrew his name from the race due to child sex abuse charges could be seeking a plea deal.

Bodenweiser had his preliminary hearing continued a second time Monday.

His attorney Joe Hurley tells our sister station Delaware 105.9 that this is not an admission of guilt, but may be Bodenweiser's best bet.

"As soon as somebody hear's negotiations they go, 'Well, what the hell's he negotiating for if he didn't do anything wrong? And the answer is because if one rolls the dice in a case like this, he's going to prison for the rest of his life. Anytime somebody says to you, 'You could go to prison for the rest of your life,' a rational, innocent person wants to say, 'What alternatives are there?'" says Hurley.

Concerns are mounting that any jury pool would be tainted due the seriousness of the allegations against Bodenweiser.

Bodenweiser was indicted in October on charges he sexually abused the same child more than 100 times between 1987 and 1990.
