Teen steals car, narrowly misses crash with police car
By Amy Cherry

A Wilmington teen is behind bars after he nearly collided with a police car in a stolen vehicle.

It happened Friday at the intersection of West 3rd Street and Delamore Place, where police say the teen blew through a stop sign and nearly hit a patrol car.

When officers stopped the 15-year-old, he jumped out of the car, and failed to put it in park. Officers had to leap out of the car and put it in park before it hit any people or structures.

The teen is behind bars on 75-hundred-dollars bail.
