Traffic sensors on rise along Del. roads
Updated Thursday, December 13, 2012 - 11:44am
Delaware highway officials say more and more sensors are being places along state roadways.
The 67 sensors installed this year are designed to help save motorists time by sending traffic data to a state traffic center, where it will be posted on the Internet.
Gene Donaldson, operations manager at the Traffic Management Center, told The News Journal that he hopes to have travel times available in the next few weeks for all of Interstate 95, Route 495 and Route 1 down to Tybouts Corner.
Information from the sensors is updated every five minutes and available on DelDOT's website as well as through smartphone and tablet applications.
