A shot was fired at a Wilmington man early Saturday morning, and now State Police are investigating the crime.

A 22-year-old man looked out the window of his house on the 2800 block of Shipley Road to discover the stranger standing in his drive way beside his car, the driver's side door ajar.

It was around 1:45am when the resident went outside to confront him, and the suspect ran. While fleeing the scene, he turned and shot a handgun once at the would-be victim.

The bullet missed the Shipley Road resident.

The shooter is described as a white male in his early twenties, about 6'0" tall with an average build, wearing a green jacket at the time of the crime.

If you have any information about this incident, call Troop 1 at 302.761.6677 extension 312, or Crimestoppers.
