Armed drug dealer arrested in Wilmington after community tip
By Tom Lehman

Wilmington police say a community tip led to the arrest of an armed drug dealer.

It happened around 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the 800 block of W. 6th Street, where someone saw a man performing a drug transaction near an alleyway and called police.

Police say officers responded to the area and saw 18-year-old Dashawn Broomer, who was standing near the alleyway and matched the description of the caller.

Officers detained Broomer and police say they found more than 103 grams of pot divided into Ziploc bags and a handgun, which police say he was prohibited from possessing due to prior felony drug and firearm convictions.

Broomer faces numerous marijuana and gun charges and was released from custody after posting $30,000 cash bail and a $20,000 secured bond.
