WPD: Man arrested on gun charges
By Tom Lehman

Wilmington police say a man has been arrested after detectives uncovered two loaded revolvers while executing a search warrant.

Police say it happened around 8:20 Thursday night when detectives were searching a residence on the 100 block of E. 28th Street during an ongoing investigation when they uncovered the firearms.

Police then took 29-year-old Shannon Showell, who was in a vehicle outside the residence, into custody.

Showell, who's prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior felony weapon, drug and robbery convictions, faces two counts of possession of firearms by a person prohibited, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.

He's been committed to the Howard Young Correctional Facility in lieu of $21,000 cash bail.
