| VIDEO: Highlights of Smyrna vs St. Elizabeth | Smyrna's Stedman Kpana scored 19 points, including seven key free throws, to push the Eagles to a 57-55 overtime victory at St. Elizabeth Tuesday night.
The visitors were up four with under a minute to go, when St. Elizabeth's Ryan Cason hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 56-55. Javon Hunter then hit one of two free throws, but St. Elizabeth could not get a potential game-winning shot to drop.
St. Elizabeth trailed most of the night until Sheldon Sorrell's steal and layup put the Vikings up 55-54 with 2:20 remaining in regulation. Mike Piekarski pushed the lead to three on the next possession with a driving layup, but a free throw by Dominique Walker preceded a breakaway layup by Kpana which tied the game at 57-57. The teams traded free throws as the first 32 minutes ended 58-58.
Smyrna hit six three pointers in the opening half, including 3 by Ja'vier Worthy to take a 26-20 lead into halftime.
The Eagles extended their advantage to 38-28 after three quarters, before St. Elizabeth began their rally that ultimately was never completed.
