A Wilmington man is charged with the attempted robbery of a patron of the Wawa in the 4000 block of North DuPont Highway Wednesday morning.

Delaware State Police say 30-year old Jon Robinson approached the driver's side door of a car that was stopped at gas pumps around 1:40 Wednesday morning and tried to open while ordering the driver to get out.

The driver refused and put the vehicle into reverse. When that happened, Robinson hit the vehicle with a large rock and took off on foot.

The victim reported the incident and Robinson was located nearby and short while later.

He's been charged with attempted first degree robbery, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct and was released after posting $26,000 secured bond.
