The State Fire Marshal's office says two people are homeless after a house fire in the Brandywine Hundred area Sunday morning was accidental.

It happened around 6:00 a.m. in the 2000 block of Silverside Road, where firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the residence.

Investigators say the fire started in a second floor bedroom and was caused by discarded smoking materials igniting combustibles.

Two occupants of the house have been released from Wilmington Hospital after being treated for smoke inhalation, but they can't return to their home and are living with family.

Damage is estimated at $50,000.
