A deer is rescued after falling through some ice in Milford.

DNREC's Fish and Wildlife officers had to use the bow of a small boat to break through the ice on Milford's Haven Lake to save the struggling doe.

The agency says they then herded the deer through the open water channel they had carved out back to the shore. It collapsed near the end, but they were able to pull the deer to safety.

The deer has recovered enough to return to the wild.
