George Curtis
A Smyrna man has been arrested in the rape of a 16-year-old girl.

State police began a rape investigation after the girl told a family member that she had been sexually assaulted by 21-year-old George Curtis.

Police say Curtis was at the girl's home January 1 and drove her to a liquor store, where he bought alcohol. Police say he took the girl to his home in Smyrna, where he forced her to drink liquor and take an Oxycodone pill before he sexually assaulted her. He then took her home.

Police say he continued to harass and have sex with the girl until she and her mother reported it.

Curtis was arrested Wednesday and charged with rape, sex with a minor, and providing alcohol to a minor.

He's in Vaughn Correctional Center on $45,000 secured bond.
