Markell nominates two for cabinet posts
By Carl Kanefsky

Governor Markell nominates two people to fill holes in his cabinet.

The Governor hopes former State Police Superintendent, Colonel Robert Coupe, will be confirmed as Commissioner of Correction, and former education policy advisor Jennifer Ranji as Secretary for the State Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families.

Coupe has 28 years experience as a State Trooper, and led the force as Superintendent for two and a half years.

Ranji was the lead staff person on Race to the Top, and played a leading role in developing the Governor’s education policy agenda.

Prior to her position in the Markell Administration, Ranji served as Deputy Legal Counsel for then Governor Tom Carper, and worked as Director of Legal Affairs for Delaware's Family Court.

Both nominations need conformation from the State Senate.
