Snow will replace rain this afternoon
This is a "messy and complicated" storm, according to AccuWeather meteorologist Dr. Joe Sobel.
"Mostly rain falling across (Delmarva) now, but in Washington and Baltimore, where it's been rain and snow, it is transitioning to snow and we think that will happen here as we go through the late afternoon and evening," Joe says.

Just WHEN the rain turns to snow depends on your location.
"Yeah, it will depend on the location, in particular west and southwest it will actually change to snow earlier. (But) I kinda think that if it's snowing at 4, 5 or 6 o'clock or thereabouts, it should still be melting on most streets and highways," Joe says.

Accumulation totals should be around three inches by the time the snow tapers off later tonight.
