VIDEO: Reactions to a career night for Lucas

Elena Delle Donne didn't have a great shooting night, but she did lead the Blue Hens with 33 points in a 78-69 win over North Carolina that sends the Blue Hens to the Sweet 16 for the first time ever. Her scoring wasn't a surprise.

But the 20 points senior guard Trumae Lucas scored wasn't expected. She came into the game averaging just 6 points per game this season, and her season high was 14 against Towson. Her career high was 15.

But Lucas put the Blue Hens on her back for much of the second half, scoring 16 of her 20 points after intermission.

Delaware trailed at the half, 43-35 and trailed by 9 three minutes into the second half. But they battled back to take a 52-51 lead with 11:22 left and lost the lead just twice after that.

Lucas was a big part of the second half resurgence, hitting 6 of her 12 shots and going 8 for 11 from the foul line. She also grabbed 4 rebounds, handed out 4 assists and had 4 steals.

Delaware held the upper hand at the foul line, hitting 25 of 31 while North Carolina was just 14 of 20.

Delle Donne passed the 3000 point mark for her career, and the 32nd win was the most in school history as Delaware raised its record to 32-3.
