By Tom Lehman 5:53pm, April 1, 2013 - Updated 6:01pm, April 1, 2013April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and the Office of Highway Safety is reminding drivers that it's illegal to use your cellphone while you're driving.
Community relations officer Allison Kirk says the cell phone ban has been effective since state legislators passed it a little more than two years ago.
"I know we still see a lot of people still on the cellphones, but we've had over 20,000 cellphone tickets issued to motorists in Delaware statewide since the law went into effect," Kirk says.
Kirk says there will be a special "overtime" campaign looking for drivers on their cellphones between April 9 and April 22.
