Independence School student heads to nat'l GeoBee

An eighth grader from the Independence School will represent Delaware at the National Geographic Bee.

Kevin Orzada beat out the state's competition Friday at Alfred Waters Middle School in Middletown.

The GeoBee tests fourth through eighth graders on their knowledge of geography.

Orzada now heads of to nationals May 20-22 in Washington, D.C., to vie against thousands for scholarships of up to $25,000. The final round is hosted by Jeopardy's Alex Trebek and will be televised nationwide.
