Video: Highlights of St. Mark's vs. Charter girls lax game and reactionCharter's girls lacrosse team gathered around and took a second to realize what they had just accomplished. The Force has struggled in previous years against St. Mark's, but Charter came out on top with a 13-10 victory.
Charter (5-1) got off to a great start when freshman Jordan Wood and Morgan Lamey scored back-to-back goals within 20 seconds of each other to give the Force the early 2-0 lead.
St. Mark's rallied back to tie the game and take their first lead at the half 7-6 with help from senior Haley Schweizer. Schweizer not only scored the last three goals going into the half, she also led all scorers with seven goals in the game.
The Spartans (2-4) and the Force went back-and-forth early in the second, but after Charter's Alexandra Mash knotted the game at 10, the force never looked back.
Mash added another goal with 8:53 left, followed by goals from Molly Ritter and Wood to secure the victory.
The Force tightened up their defense in the final minutes to hold the Spartans to three goals. Charter out shot St. Mark's 25-19.
Mash and Lamey led Charter with four goals a piece.
Charter has won their last three games and heads to Newark on Tuesday to take on the Yellowjackets, while St. Mark's travels out of town to go head-to-head against Fallston (MD) on Saturday.
