Suspects lie, rob gas stations
By Michelle Provencher

A ruse is used to rob two gas stations in Wilmington Sunday morning.

State troopers said a male suspect entered the BP station at 4001 Lancaster Avenue at 7:21 a.m. and brought a store item to the counter, seemingly to purchase it.

However, when the cashier opened the register, he grabbed the money out of the drawer and took off.

A similar robbery took place at the Shell station at 1800 Foulk Road around 10:30 a.m. when officers said a man asked to purchase gas, then nabbed the cash out of the register.

There is no video surveillance available.

It is unknown if the robberies are related.

Investigators ask anyone with information on either of these crimes to call State Police or Crimestoppers.
