Bill that clears confusion in school choice program passes in House
By Amy Cherry

Applying to the state's complex school choice program may soon be easier.

A bill passed in the state House would standardize applications forms and deadlines and allow parents to submit their applications through the Delaware Department of Education's website. Current law allows school districts to set their own parameters for the choie program.

House Bill 90 also requires districts to host public information sessions on the choice program and admit students until they're at 85 percent capacity.

If it passes in the Senate, Rep. Kim Williams' measure, would be the first update to the school choice program in 15 years.
