VIDEO: Highlights and Reaction from AI vs. Polytech

A.I. duPont midfielder Cynthia Hagerty scored two second-half goals as the No. 9 seeded Tigers pulled a mild 3-0 upset over No. 8 Polytech Tuesday night at Smyrna.

The Tigers struck first eight minutes into the contest when a 25 foot shot was blocked down by Polytech's goalkeeper, only to have A.I.'s Haley McNulty take advantage by sending it into the open net for the 1-0 lead.

A.I. threatened several more times in the first half, but the Panthers' defense combined with solid goaltending by Amanda Deputy kept it a one-goal game.

Hagerty doubled the Tigers' lead in the 60th minute, when she took advantage of a loose ball at the top of the penalty box after a corner kick, and drove it home for the night's second goal.

The senior finished off the scoring in the 77th minute, this time splitting a pair of defenders, and beating a sliding Deputy for her second tally of the night, and the final outcome.

The Tigers advance to face No. 1 seed Charter School of Wilmington Saturday at a site yet to be announced.
