VIDEO: Highlights of Blue Rocks vs. Dash

The Blue Rocks plated three runs in the 9th inning, but it wasn't enough to overcome an early power display by Winston-Salem in a 6-5 loss at Frawley Stadium Friday night.

The Dash skipped out to a 5-0 lead after four and a half innings thanks to home runs from Chris Curley in the 1st, Courtney Hawkins in the 4th, and Adam Heisler in the 5th. Brent Tanner and Josh Richmond each had run scoring hits during the early onslaught as well.

Daniel Mateo began the comeback for Wilmington in the 5th with a 2-run single to right field, but Heisler pushed the advantage back to 6-2 with an RBI single in the 7th.

Jared Schlehuber represented the tying run in the 9th inning as Wilmington loaded the bases with two outs, and he delivered a drive into the left-centerfield gap which emptied the bases on a 3-run double, making it 6-5.

Dennis Raben had a chance to tie or win the game, but Max Peterson settled down to strike him out and end the ballgame.

Wilmington's lone Carolina League All-Star Kyle Smith (4-3) struggled, giving up four runs on five hits and three walks in just 3 1/3 innings of work.

Brian Blough (5-4) picked up the run by going six innings with two runs allowed.
