It took me more than three hours to make the usual one-hour trek down Route 1 from Wilmington to Dover, and I wasn't alone. Thousands of music lovers sat in the parking lot that was Route 1.

"I left at nine o'clock, so I think that's almost six-and-a-half hours on the road," says Ashley Barnas.

Barnas got a show of her own along the way.

"I saw a lot of people taking bathroom breaks on the side, a lot of people broken down on the side of the road, saw some girls, ya know, licking their lollipops waiting for the tow truck, and they were jumping for joy when they saw them," she says.

Barnas came to Firefly from New Castle and had no idea this would end up being a road trip.

Schuyler Warner, who came from the Baltimore area to celebrate her birthday at Firefly, knew better.

"We left around two in the morning. We actually have friends coming who left from the same area, they're still in traffic. They left at eight o'clock, and they've been in traffic for four or five hours," says Warner.

Drew Scott and Ben Gross from Richmond got sick of all the traffic on Route 13 and found a better way.

"We decided to leave the car. We found a shopping cart on the side of the road. It was like a relay. We took turns running the entire way with somebody in the shopping cart, screaming, 'Firefly' the whole way," they said.

They got to Firefly an hour before their friends, who stayed in the car.

"So the shopping cart was better than the car?" I asked.

"Oh yeah, definitely, oh yeah. I'm going to have to sleep in that car, I mean I don't want to be there all day," they said.
