"Good samartian" bill unanimously passed by state house
By Lauren LiBetti

A bill that encourages Delawareans to report drug and alcohol overdoses without fear of certain criminal penalties, receives unanimous approval from the state house.
SB 116, also known as the "Good Samaritan" bill, would grant immunity from certain criminal persecutions to individuals reporting a drug or alcohol overdose.

The bill was passed unanimously Wednesday by the state house and now heads to Governor Markell for his signature.

The Delaware Health Statistics Center says the number of deaths from drug overdoses nearly tripled from 1999 to 2010.
