Sparring leads to violence in Wilmington
By Michelle Provencher

Wilmington police say a friendly sparring match turned ugly when one of the participants pulled a knife.

Officers say they found the 23-year-old male victim on the 900 block of North West Street around 12:45 Monday afternoon.

The investigation reveals the victim hit the suspect in the face during their sparring match, causing the suspect to draw a knife.

The victim sustained a cut to his abdomen. He was transported to Christiana Hospital and is in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a black male, between 5'5" and 5'7", 25 to 30 years old, and weighing 150 to 170 pounds.

The investigation is ongoing.
