Rainy weather dampens beach season so far
By Joe Irizarry

Beach business is a bit off so far this year, and rainy weather is likely to blame.

"If I looked at year-to-date booking for hotels and motels, January through June last year and January through June of this year, we're off about 15-percent," says Carol Everhart, the President and CEO of Rehoboth Beach/Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce

But Everhart is hopefuly the rest of the summer season could be better.

"If the requests for information are an indicator, which they typically are, we're going to have a great season. Requests are up over 20 percent, typically more request for area information means more visitation," says Everhart.

Everhart adds this July 4th weekend could be good for business because the weather appears to be much better than it's been these past two weeks.
