Dover works with DSU on hotel deal
By Associated Press

Before Delaware State University can move into a nearby hotel, Dover officials must approve the plans.

The Delaware State News reports that the announcement of the $12 million, 15-year lease was a surprise for city officials last month. The university wants to use the 153-room Sheraton Dover Hotel while campus buildings are renovated.

The hotel is authorized for commercial and recreational use, but the university has applied to rezone it for institutional and office use.

DSU spokesman Carlos Holmes says the ideal is to move in July 27. The application will go to the city's Planning Commission next month and the Dover City Council in September.

Dover City Planner Ann Marie Townshend says she's looking at whether a temporary arrangement could be made before that meeting.
